Welcome to New Regent's College

Welcome to the website of New Regent's College, Hackney's vocational college and Pupil Referral Unit. We are a mixed provision for primary aged students through to Year 11 of secondary school.

Our mission statement: 'Learning to Succeed' is designed to encapsulate the work we do. Often the young people who attend New Regent's are at risk of failure. Our aim is to equip them with the skills to be successful. The majority of our learners are with us for a limited period of time before returning to mainstream school or starting at a new school. We aim to help learners overcome their barriers to learning, which may be about improving their behaviour or some other aspects of their learning. There is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy especially for our younger students.

Although we are a mixed aged provision, primary aged learners are kept separate from their secondary school counterparts. We offer small classes and intensive levels of support. Older students, in Years 10 and 11, may be educated on our Nile Street Site or a range of specialist providers of vocational education. Our aim is that all of our Key Stage 4 students will achieve 5 GCSEs or their equivalent, including English and Maths.

Some of our students are referred by their school to New Regent's, so that we can source a particular curriculum that the school cannot offer. Each student is set individual targets and given independent advice and guidance to help plan their education after Year 11.

At New Regent’s College we have a commitment to ensure diversity and equality of opportunity for every member of the college community regardless of age, gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion, social class, ethnic or national origin, language, marital status or employment status.

In addition to being the Executive Head of New Regent's College, I am also Headteacher of The Urswick School, a successful secondary school in the centre of Hackney. I work closely with senior leaders based at New Regent’s whose responsibilities are summarised below:

Samara Sherratt, Deputy Head;

Jo Byrne - Deputy Head

Linda Quinn Assistant Head: KS4

Katherine Gill Consultant SENCO

All can be contacted via reception at New Regent’s College. We moved into our new purpose built campus in September 2019. We offer first class facilities and an excellent educational experience.

I hope this website is a useful guide for parents, students and the community. We very much want our young people to continue 'Learning to Succeed'.
