New Regent's College holds first Awards Ceremony

Posted on 17th Jun

New Regent’s College held its first Awards Ceremony on Thursday 11 June. This was supported by The Vintners’ Company who generously funded the prizes.

The mission statement of New Regent’s College is ‘Learning to succeed’. Executive Heateacher, Richard Brown, explains: “Sometimes a young person is not successful in one school but can thrive in a different environment.

“We work with a range of youngsters from Year 1 to Year 11. Some but not all have been permanently excluded from other schools. New Regent’s College will never give up on a child whatever challenges they may present. Our students have made huge progress this year and we wanted to celebrate this with their parents.”

In addition to certificates, prizes were awarded for excellence in maths and English, attendance and for overall progress. Student of the Year awards were presented to Eren Dur (Primary) and Jorge Mendes (Secondary).

Presentations were made by Master Vintner, Rupert Clevely and Steve Belk, Chair of the Management Board. Guests were also able to view an exhibition of the artwork of students and listen to a performance of African drumming.

Shane Foley, Head of School, said: “It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces. We are proud of all of the children here and are helping them to become better learners and enjoy the success this can then bring.”
