Cardboard Citizens at the New Regent's College

Posted on 17th Nov

Cardboard Citizens, a professional theatre company and the leading practitioner of Forum Theatre in the UK, have been working with our KS3 pupils in Drama. They have extensive of experience of working with young people who are not in mainstream education and who may have specific behavioural and emotional support needs.

Workshop Leader & Director of Projects, Tony McBride, and Programme Delivery Manager, Effie Makepeace are offering our pupils the chance to contribute to the writing of a new play which will tour schools in Spring.  The play, called Meta, is in collaboration with playwright Sarah Woods and a team of cognitive neuroscientists who aim to educate and excite young people about the development of their brains, and the potential impact this has on their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It explores the link between the neuroscience of the developing adolescent brain. The workshops are drama based, using Forum Theatre to explore what stresses our pupils out, and ways they can manage stressful feelings.

The workshops have been so successful that Tony and Effie have asked to extend the project with our young people.
