NRC student wins English Schools’ Championship

Posted on 17th Jul

In June 2018 New Regent’s College received a welcoming email informing us that one of our students competed in the high jump at a Youth Development League competition, where he jumped 1.83m ranking him 3rd in the UK for his age group.

Within weeks of this achievement and still very new to high jump this young man was selected to represent not just New Regent’s College but the whole of London at the prestigious English Schools Athletic Association (ESAA) track and field championships in Birmingham.

New Regent’s College wants to congratulate David Bazuaye, sports pupil of the year for an outstanding performance at the English School Championships where he WON the Junior Boys High Jump with a leap of 1.90m. What an achievement from such a young athlete with a great future ahead of him. David did not just win the event he also won the hearts of the Birmingham crowd, receiving tremendous support all through his event.

David was one of 8 gold medallists for the London team, one of two Junior Boy medallists and the youngest medallist of the team.  New Regent’s College and the whole community is very proud of his achievement!

Congratulations on your jump of 1.90m, winning the junior boys high jump. We are very proud of your achievements on the athletics track and of it. We look forward to following the rest off your athletic career.
